Genesis 17:15
And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
Meaning
“Princess”
From the Hebrew Sarah (שָׂרָה), “princess”, “noblewoman” — the feminine of sar, “prince”. Her name was Sarai; God changed it to Sarah when he promised that nations and kings would come from her.
In the original:שָׂרָה Sârâh · Strong H8283שָׂרָה sârâh · Strong H8282
Sarah was Abraham’s wife and went with him from the day he left his homeland. Barren into old age, she laughed when she heard she would have a son — and at ninety she gave birth to Isaac. Hebrews counts her among the heroes of faith.
And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
