Numbers 14:24
But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
Meaning
“Dog” or “bold” — meaning debated
From the Hebrew Kalev (כָּלֵב). The word kelev means “dog”; Strong’s lexicon also suggests “forcible, bold”. Readings such as “faithful” or “wholehearted” come from Caleb’s story, not from the word.
In the original:כָּלֵב Kâlêb · Strong H3612
Caleb was one of the twelve spies Moses sent into Canaan, and one of the two — with Joshua — who said the people could take the land. God said he had another spirit and had followed him fully. At 85 he still asked for the hill country of Hebron as his inheritance.
But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
