John 1:45
Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
Meaning
“Given by God”
From the Hebrew Netan’el (נְתַנְאֵל): natan (to give) and El (God) — “God has given”, “gift of God”. Nathan and Jonathan share the root.

Nathanael was from Cana in Galilee. He doubted when Philip told him about Jesus of Nazareth, but went to see. Jesus called him an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile, and Nathanael recognised him as the Son of God. Many identify him with the apostle Bartholomew.
Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
