Esther 2:7
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
Meaning
“Star” (Persian origin)
Esther comes from Persian and is usually linked to stāra, “star” — Strong’s lexicon only says it is of Persian origin. Her Hebrew name was Hadassah (הֲדַסָּה), “myrtle”, a shrub with fragrant white flowers.

Esther was an orphan raised by her cousin Mordecai, and she became queen of Persia. When a decree ordered the Jews destroyed, she risked her life going to the king uninvited — “if I perish, I perish” — and saved her people. The feast of Purim celebrates the story.
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.
