Introduction

Timothy was young to be looking after the church in Ephesus, and some looked down on him for it. Paul did not tell him to wait until he was older; he told him to be an example.

In word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith and in purity. Respect does not come from age: it comes from a consistent life.

Psalms 119:9 · Read the chapter →

How shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed to it according to God’s word. Purity is not just willpower: it is a life shaped by the Scriptures.

Application: Build the habit of reading one chapter of the Bible a day.

3. Remembering the Creator now

Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

Ecclesiastes 12:1 · Read the chapter →

Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come. Choices made early shape an entire life.

Application: Do not put off the decision to follow God.

Conclusion

David was young when he faced Goliath; Daniel, when he resolved not to defile himself in Babylon; Mary, when she said yes to God. God has always used young people — and he wants to use you now.
