Bedtime prayer

Bedtime is the moment to give the day back to God: to thank him, ask forgiveness and leave with him whatever is unfinished. The Bible speaks of a peaceful sleep that comes from trust. Below is a prayer for the night and verses to read before you lie down.

Lord, the day is over, and I give it to you just as it was. Thank you for what went well; forgive me for where I went wrong.

What is still undone, I leave in your hands until tomorrow. The worries that want to follow me to bed, I cast on you, because you care for me.

Quiet my mind and my heart. Keep my home and everyone who sleeps under this roof.

You neither slumber nor sleep. That is why I can lie down and sleep in peace.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
